Innovation Day at ISBAT University: Empowering Students to Tackle Real-World Challenges

ISBAT University recently hosted an exciting and inspiring event, Innovation Day, where students showcased their groundbreaking projects aimed at solving real-world problems. The event was graced by the distinguished presence of Mr. Winston Agaba  the Managing Director of the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC, who was the Chief Guest of honor for the day. His insightful words resonated deeply with the students, faculty, and attendees, emphasizing the importance of innovation in shaping a brighter future.

 

The atmosphere at ISBAT University was electric as the students took the stage, presenting their innovative projects that spanned a variety of fields, from technology and healthcare to sustainability and education. 9:30 – 9:35 am: Prayer by Ms. Jane Achanga
The day began with a heartfelt prayer led by Ms. Jane Achanga, setting a positive and reflective tone for the event.

9:35 – 9:45 am: Welcome Address by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) K M Mathew
Prof. (Dr.) K M Mathew, the Vice Chancellor of ISBAT University, delivered the welcome address, thanking all attendees for their presence and emphasizing the importance of innovation in shaping the future. He encouraged students to think outside the box and challenged them to make a real difference in the world through their innovative ideas.

9:45 – 10:00 am: Inauguration of ISBAT Innovation Day by Chief Guest, Mr. Winston Agaba David
The official inauguration of ISBAT Innovation Day was marked by a speech from the Chief Guest, Mr. Winston Agaba David, the Managing Director of UBC. In his address, Mr. Agaba David shared his experiences as a leader in the business world and highlighted the significance of innovation in today’s competitive and rapidly evolving industries. His inspiring words motivated students to embrace challenges and work towards finding innovative solutions to real-world problems.

10:00 – 10:30 am: Leveraging AI in Day-to-Day Office Life – Presentation by DAA
Following the inauguration, a highly engaging presentation on “Leveraging AI in Day-to-Day Office Life” was delivered by DAA. The session demonstrated how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing office operations, making tasks more efficient, and enabling smarter decision-making processes.

10:30 am – 12:00 pm: Project Demonstration by School Teams
The heart of the event was the project demonstration session, where four student teams from different schools at ISBAT presented their innovative projects in front of an eager audience and a panel of judges. These teams showcased cutting-edge solutions in areas such as technology, sustainability, and education, demonstrating the immense potential and creativity of ISBAT’s students.

12:00 pm – 12:30 pm: Innovative Project Demonstrations and Campus Tour
Following the presentations, attendees had the opportunity to explore the innovative projects up close. Students demonstrated their projects across multiple floors, offering visitors the chance to interact with the solutions firsthand and witness their practical applications. The projects were spread across various rooms and labs:

  • Room #501 (Projects by Mr. Douglas Onencan, Mr. Justin Opolot, and Ms. Sharon)

  • Room #402 (Projects by Mr. Peter Muhumuza, Mr. Christopher Emitu & Team)
  • Room #407 (Projects by Mr. Tobias & Team #1)
  • Multimedia Lab at 6th Floor (Projects by Mr. Tobias and Team #2)

During this time, participants were also given a guided campus tour to explore the facilities that nurture innovation at ISBAT University.

12:30 pm – 12:40 pm: Announcement of Winning Teams
The excitement of the day culminated in the announcement of the winning teams for the school projects. The winners and runners-up were celebrated for their outstanding work, demonstrating exceptional creativity, technical skill, and practical impact. The announcement was eagerly awaited by the students, as they had poured their hard work into making their ideas a reality.

12:40 pm – 1:00 pm: Distribution of Certificates
Following the announcement, certificates were distributed to the winning teams and all participating students. This recognition was a testament to the dedication and hard work of all the students who took part in making the event a success.

1:00 pm: Refreshments and Dispersal
The event concluded with a light refreshment session, allowing attendees to network, celebrate their achievements, and reflect on the inspiring day of innovation.
