ISBAT University Students Visit NITA-U for Hands-On ICT Industry Exposure
Date: 30th May 2025
Venue: National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U)
As part of ISBAT University’s ongoing mission to deliver industry-relevant, experiential learning, Semester 6 students from the Bachelor of Networking and Computer Security (BNCS) program undertook an enriching industrial visit to the National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U) on 30th May 2025.

The delegation was led by Mr. Ayesiga Christopher, Assistant Lecturer in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, with support from Mr. Kenneth Male, IT Lecturer. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into the national ICT infrastructure and its real-world applications.
At NITA-U, students were introduced to a wide range of critical ICT operations. Key highlights included an in-depth overview of the National Backbone Infrastructure (NBI), a guided tour of the modern Data Center, and insights into best practices in data security and infrastructure management.

The group also explored NITA-U’s Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs), learning about strategies for ensuring government service continuity during crises. An interactive session on E-Governance offered valuable knowledge on how technology is transforming public service delivery across Uganda.
Students were further exposed to advanced cloud computing setups, virtualization technologies, and current trends in ICT implementation. In-depth discussions with NITA-U experts gave students a solid understanding of cybersecurity policies, data governance frameworks, and the national ICT regulatory environment.
This visit not only strengthened the students’ academic foundation but also bridged the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application in the field of networking and cybersecurity.
ISBAT University extends heartfelt gratitude to the NITA-U team for their generous hospitality and knowledge-sharing, and to the university management for consistently supporting such impactful learning experiences.
