The Master of Science in Information Technology program aims to deepen the understanding and enhance the skills of IT professionals in the areas of advanced computing technology, application development, information management, and strategic IT planning. It is designed to provide a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, preparing graduates for leadership roles in the IT industry. The course focuses on equipping students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex IT challenges, emphasizing innovation, project management, and the application of technology in solving real-world problems.
Advanced Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate advanced understanding of the core areas of information technology, including software development, network infrastructure, data analytics, and cybersecurity. Understand the latest trends and technologies in IT and their application in various sectors.
Problem-Solving Skills: Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to identify, formulate, and solve complex IT problems. Use rigorous methods of analysis and design to evaluate IT solutions in terms of their effectiveness and efficiency.

The M.Sc. IT program is structured to not only provide depth in the technical aspects of information technology but also to offer insights into strategic planning and management, preparing graduates for senior roles in the IT industry or for further academic research in the field.
For Direct Entry
(i) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE); and
(ii) At least 2 Principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent, obtained at the same sitting
(iii) Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% marks from a recognized University.
For Lateral Entry to Semester 2
(i) All the above (i) to (iv) criteria
(ii) UG Degree in BBA or equivalent as assessed in (a) (iii) above
(iii) 2 years of work experience in any organization
