Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics (BSC-AE)

Course Objective

The Bachelor of Science programme in Applied Economics is a comprehensive four (4) years course of study that prepares students for careers in business, financial institutions, national, state, private and private research organizations and nonprofit organizations. Consistent with the mission of the University, the programme trains students to be real-life problem solvers that upon graduation they are ready to be employed in entry and junior-level positions in business and industry, the public sector and non-profit sectors.

The programme exposes students to a broad spectrum of economic concepts and applications, providing them with a strong background from which to pursue graduate study in economics and the social sciences, business and finance, law public administration, and education.

Admissions

Eligibility Criteria

(i) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with 5 passes; AND

(ii) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 Principal passes (at least one in science subjects) obtained at the same sitting.

(iii) International students must produce the equivalency certificates from UNEB, equating their foreign qualifications as equivalent of (i) and (ii) above.

(iv) Students of HEC (Business) with minimum score of class ii credit obtained from an accredited University shall also be considered after assessment of their previous awards.

Diploma with minimum score of Class II Credit in a similar stream shall be considered for credit exemptions after assessment of their previous awards
